Here is a picture of a before and after rescue. This poor girl came to us a year ago with barely any fur left on her body. She was scared to death and yet she never ever growled or threated anyone she simply shook herself out of her coat.

Some good nutrition, some tlc, and an awful lot of patience and this old gal is finally beginning to trust again but only those she knows. She is still very scared of anyone she does not know. We are hoping another 6 months and she might be ready for a permanent home.

This brings me to my other topic – please be a responsible adult and do not get yourself a dog shar pei or any other breed unless you are willing to dedicate the time that’s needed and that you are willing to make a life time commitment.

There simply is no excuse for dogs to land up in this predicament. It’s inhumane! If you can can foster or peramently adopt a rescued shar pei or may a donation even a small one there are centers throughout the countryside that could use your help. Most are also looking for volunteers to help out too.

Help save the life of a shar pei. This is one of the smartest, kindest, and most loving dogs you’ll ever come across. They are great with other dogs, children, and they are also a good watch dog.

The plight of so many of these dogs is heart wrenching. Can you help?

Contaminated Food Scare

All of us that are responsible pet owners go to the ends of the earth to make sure we are feeding our pets the very best food. W e don’t feed table scraps because it may not be good for our pets. We dont’ feed raw because of the risks so image our shock when it is announced that the pet food chain is contaminated.

And just as much of a shock is the fact that we discover that the high end brands like Nutro come from the same plant as the cheaper supermarket brands. It will be interesting to see how the higher end dog foods will fair when this is all over.

Now Menu Foods says they are compensating for vet bills but what about the pet themselves and then again how could one ever be compensated for a pet anyway? There simply is no value. But speaking of value what about purebred dogs that can be worth thousands of dollars. What about breeders who may have 10 or more dogs?

The cost of this disaster both financially and emotionally will be far reaching and long lasting. Thankfully they have found the underlying cause but have not yet confirmed how rat poison landed up in our pet food. It’s simply inexcusable.
